Abbeyfeale 2014 All-Ireland Bones Championship - Reel Set
Просмотров 2 тыс.10 лет назад
This is me playing at the Fleadh by the Feale. On the last day of the festival, May 5th, was the Senior All-Ireland Bones Playing Competition. I placed second, the winner was Junior Davey. I'll post more soon, but the reel set here, starting with the Silver Spear, was the highlight for me, so I thought I'd start with that. www.FleadhByTheFeale.com/

Combination Rag with Asalato

Playing an old string band tune with Devin Champlin and Katy Harris. I'm playing an African shaker with many names: Asalato, Kashaka, Kosika, Patica, Kass-Kass, Thelevi, etc. I'm no expert player, but I think the basic rhythms they make often fit old ragtime tunes like this one, originally recorded by the East Texas Serenaders in 1927. I bought my aslato at Rhythm Traders in Portland, Oregon. S...
Da Slockit Light played on Hayden (Wicki) duet concertina
Просмотров 16 тыс.14 лет назад
Written by Shetland fiddler Tom Anderson, I first heard this tune played by Kathryn Tickell on Northumbrian Smallpipes. I adapted a harmony part I found somewhere to the left side of the concertina, and also hold down a drone key with my left pinkie for the whole second half of the video. Here's what Tom wrote about the tune in his book Ringing Strings: "I was coming out of Eshaness in late Jan...
Kyckling (Chicken) polka on Wakker Hayden concertina - HD
Просмотров 227 тыс.15 лет назад
I heard this tune by Jan-Anders here on RUclips, and decided to learn it myself. My version doesn't have the solid feel and fluidity of his, but it's fun to play! I recorded it at the home of Charlie and Charmaine in Seattle, members of the Tallboys and Squirrel Butter. Charlie came up with a great fretless banjo part on the spot, and Charmaine was chicken wrangler. www.thetallboys.com/ www.squ...
Baby Elephant Walk on Hayden duet concertina

This is Henry Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk." Including a pink Dellaphant. She snuck in, I had to lure her back outside with peanuts afterwards.
A Palerno
Просмотров 10 тыс.15 лет назад
This is a Tex-Mex waltz recorded in 1929 I got from the album "Norteño & Tejano Accordion Pioneers, Mexican-American Border Music Vol. III." According to the book "Tejano Proud": "R. de León and L. Villalobos made the first conjunto recroding in 1929, a vals called 'A Palerno.'" I'm playing my Hayden duet concertina made by Wim Wakker see my first Hayden duet video for more information on the i...

This is a German carol written in 1837 by Johann Wilhelm Hey and set to music by Ernst Anschütz. I got the arrangement from a player of the Hayden duet concertina in Germany. It's interesting to play a simple and slow song, the phrasing and details become so important. Even just starting the tune and stopping it smoothly requires a lot of touch for a relatively new player like me. I'm sorry abo...
Theme to Fawlty Towers
Просмотров 17 тыс.15 лет назад
This is the theme song for an educational British TV show called "Fawlty Towers." It was scripted by and starred John Cleese and Connie Booth. Other players were Prunella Scales and Andrew Sachs. The Theme for Fawlty Towers was composed for string quartet by Dennis Wilson in 1974. I thought it was time to record something a little more upscale, bring a touch of class to RUclips, which I have he...
Under the Double Eagle played on Hayden duet concertina
Просмотров 36 тыс.16 лет назад
"Unter dem Doppeladler" (or "Under the Double Eagle") is a march written by J.F. Wagner in 1902, which I arranged from vintage sheet music for the Hayden duet concertina. I played the same 46-key instrument I used in my earlier "Waltz Medley" video. This march has been widely adapted to the bluegrass and American old-time genres, but I play it pretty straight here. I used a different camera, a ...
Hot Tamales (They're Red Hot) - Ukulele & Bones
Просмотров 24 тыс.16 лет назад
Another quick take, Devin singing Robert Johnson's "They're Red Hot" while playing ukulele, with abundant clattering by myself. I have a pair of buffalo ribs in my right hand, and a thick short pair of cow ribs in my left. I was messing around a bit with playing different pitches on the bones, especially starting around 50 seconds in. Search "Nobocaster" on RUclips to see more stuff from Devin....

Whistling Rufus played on anglo concertina
Thank you for sharing, Jeff, nice playing.
This feels like the 1920's.
Sounds more Russian than Tex-Mex.
This sounds very Irish for a German tune.
At first glance, I thought you were playing rhythm bones.
Is this supposed to be a Christmas song?
You still got it JeffLeff!
I like it!! How is it different from the Anglo concertina?? asks Judy corrette
Excellent sound 👏
💪💪💪💪♥️♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍👍
This is the klezmer band you were talking about today? Cool rhythms!
Now I understand why you putt the way you do! Just kidding, this is pretty brilliant!
Keep coming back and watching this. So good!
Great.
Cool
Wow - that was great! I'm learning Anglo, but I'll keep going for a year to get competent, then I want to learn duet.
Too cool!
I heard Andy May play it on Northumbrian Small Pipes with Kathryn Tickell on the viola.
Bravo!
Outstanding!!
I don’t believe in hell. But if there was a hell this is the music they would play
Lol go hate somewhere else, low life.
This feels very Vaudevillian.
wonderfull
That is bad ass.
Cool!!!! :-) I hope no chicken was hurt :-))))
Muito bom
How many keys does this concertina have, also is this a duet concertina?
I always come back to this happy little tune
Super👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A poultry performance. Like the tune which could be coupled with Hens march to the Middens. Best Wishes from Scotland.
Came across you on computer chronicles. wicked grooves.
Bandoneon
Always wanted to learn concertina. Is it difficult?
Something is very strange about this
So is it fair to say that this is THE cuck song?
What're you on about?

I like your sweater and hat
The Banjo still has a few frets on it
This is the best fuckin Polka ever,. Well done!
Hi JefLeff, you inspired me to play Hayden duet! I came across your videos on RUclips in the end of 2016 and got hooked so much that I bought the Hayden duet From "The Button Box" Massachusetts and started learning on my own. What a wonderful journey I am having.... It will never ends. Thank you so much, man!
